In addition to revolutionizing the office workplace, and the economy, Cloud Computing has also impacted the art of social debate. When friends disagree and use their phones to find facts, they are Cloud Warriors.
Cloud Warriors is a live event game, played in a restaurant or bar, by competitors using their smart phones, to win cash and prizes. The rules are simple. Participants use their phones or other devices to surf the web and procure rare information, which are answers to questions picked at random by a spin wheel. Brought to life by SURROUND Digital Marketing Agency, participants race to use their phones and tweet replies using the hashtag #CloudWarriors.
Questions are picked at random by audience members who take turns spinning the Thunder Wheel; a crackling, booming thunder sound effect comes across the speakers in the bar every time the wheel is spun. Every position on the wheel contains a question for the audience.
The host reads the questions, which also appear projected, or on the native TV screens. Each challenge is presented in a visual representation with pictures and text spelling out exactly what’s required, illustrating the question to the audience participants.
Then all eyes turn to the Twitter-Wall. The first correct ‘answer tweet’ to appear on the Twitter Wall, set to display #CloudWarriors responses, wins the reward and could qualify the participant for a seat at the Cloud Table.
CLOUD TABLE is where the most prolific winners are invited to sit. Drinks are free and tasty appetizers are laid out in abundance. The first correct answer gets to sit there, followed by the first winner with two victories, and then three and then four. There are only four seats at this table.
Cloud Table is important because it separates the prolific tweeters from any helpers which they might have, which is allowed, at their own tables. It’s like an upgrade to ‘pro’, and the rewards are doubled for winners sitting at Cloud Table.
GRAND PRIZE is donated by TeraGo Networks cloud services and will probably be a remote controlled something or another that requires an app and pin codes and lots of messing around online with registration forms and downloads. This part of the challenge is still pending, but rest assured it will be firmly established before the show next Tuesday night.
Cagney’s Wine Bar and Steakhouse in Mississauga has graciously agreed to host the very first Cloud Warriors event. There is no admission charge, but Cagney’s would appreciate your business. Come hungry and be prepared to take a taxi home as some of the prize rewards contain alcohol.

Must be over 18 years old to play, and each attendee will be asked to sign a release form granting photographers and videographers the use of their image forevermore in all mediums throughout the universe, or something like that. We will be making a photo gallery and videos as we do expect to run this game event in the future and will use this media to promote the concept to restaurants and businesses across Canada.
