The anything-goes, colorful world of HARTH really came to life at 99 Sudbury St in Toronto on Weds 26 October 2011. Harthfest 2011 was a large colourful event attraction filled with enthusiastic phone app developers fresh from AndroidTO. Raymi the Minx told me about harthfest in a heartfelt mass email. She wrote, Hey idiots this is how you come to harthfest for FREE tomorrow – get your tickets for your flight on harth air, i’ll be checking you in at the door. Forward this to friends of yours you want to bring with. 8PM 99 Sudbury See ya! http://harthfest.com Harthfest was the AndroidTO After Party 2 ROOMS – 2 EXPERIENCES, both of them kinda chilly LIVE PERFORMANCES COLORFUL EXHIBITS were arranged about the room behind a boxing ring, The StickerYou Make-Your-Own-Sticker Photo Booth Roller Derby champions THE ROLLERGETTES in-person The art of Jimmy Chiale The Eightshit social media profile pic… Read more »

There is a new page on the Lenzr Blog entitled, How To Get Votes? that explains the art and science of soliciting votes and earning a Top Ten ranking (to be considered by Judges as winner for prizes and permanent honour with blog links to user profile page). Not content with simply posting my thoughts on the subject, and reflecting on years of experience, I have placed a thread in the Lenzr discussion forum. How To Get Votes? in the Lenzr Forum to ask the membership for their ideas. (The Promote section of the Lenzr Forum is incidentally one place where you can get votes), Referrals and ‘Vote Exchanges” are allowed, and encouraged when they are communicated and acted upon in a manner that perpetuates a germ of the sponsor’s story. Carolyn Wilman, Contest Queen and Lenzr Judge Carolyn Wilman has volunteered to be one of eight current Lenzr Judges!… Read more »

It’s October already. September was a blur, but there was one day I did manage to get out to my parent’s farm in time to help harvest honey. We brought in one hundred and forty honey supers in one day. Here I am helping my brothers harvest their honey crop. The harvest is late this year, and beeing out in a ‘yard-of-bees’ on a chilly September morning isn’t much fun – the bees were miserable! But the mist covered scenery is breathtaking. I love this particular beeyard because its centered in an old apple orchard. Its a trip back in time to when local farmers planted fruit trees and made their own home cooked pies and preserves. Now here in a very old field, far from any major highway there are a half dozen hundred year old trees and their children, and their forgotten fruit lies all around the perimeter… Read more »

Somebody put me on the list and I got invited to the YYZ LIVING magazine second issue launch party at Ultra Supper Club on Queen St West on Thursday 16 June 2011 evening 8pm. It wasn’t hard to get invited to this event, everyone was there. The evening started at 8pm upstairs on the white paint of the Ultra patio which had just come into shade cast by taller brick buildings west on Queen St. The food was tasty. The free drink was orange juice and champagne w strawberry The two bartenders on the south bar were overworked from the start. It was a nice night that actually got warmer when the sun went down. It was downright steamy later. This highly anticipated party did indeed bring out some interesting people from the world of fashion art and media, and this really was an almost perfect evening for an outdoor… Read more »

When Alex Blom first told me about Freelance Camp coming to Toronto he planted a seed which germinated in my brain a few days later… I guess it sprouted when I finally navigated my PC browser toward the ‘Suggest a Session’ page on the #flcto website. At that time, I volunteered to share my knowledge about how and why I do what I do when I blog. I thought perhaps I’d explain what I’m trying to accomplish when I create my distinctive looking WordPress sites, along with all of the cookie crumb ‘info kibble’ that I plant in my sidebars. The program is called Pimp Your Blog. My proposal was accepted! So now I’m on the Freelance Camp Toronto 2010 website’s official schedule. I’m slated to present Pimp Your Blog on Sunday 1:30 pm in Track 4. The idea that Alex planted is now bearing fruit in my brain as… Read more »

Smojoe didn’t go to WordCamp because it was too far away. I was going to go, and I’d even purchased a $35 ticket earlier in the week, but on that Saturday as I sat reading everyone’s tweets I had critical second thoughts, and so I skipped it. I stayed home all weekend and wrote content for Lenzr, and my own Smojoe Social Media Manual. The Smojoe Social Media Manual is an easy to read, straight forward handbook that shows exactly how I use advanced social media marketing practices to put my clients on the first page of Google for any keyword they choose. Its broken into five chapters, each module is a stand alone presentation. Together they comprise a learning program called Build Social Capital with Smojoe, and in the near future, I will do graphic rich webinars on the following subjects, Bloggers are Farmers – how to plant, fertilize… Read more »

On Thursday March 18th 2010, I journeyed to 156 Augusta Ave and paid cash to see three Toronto bloggers talk about themselves and their blogs. It was worth $20 cost of admission, and trust me I’d tell you if it wasn’t. Twenty bucks was a bargain actually; for me, listening to these people is pure inspiration. Yes they are self proclaimed blog stars, and no, it has nothing to do with their traffic or ecommerce sales, or even the quality of their information – it’s more about style and ‘state of mind’, and how well these self promoters can project their own identities on their readers. There’s an art and science = alchemy But today I failed them. My own pictures of the Blogstars are terrible, and I’m twenty hours too late with this post. How can I be a citizen journalist about something as important as this, and not… Read more »

Yesterday I wrote two blog entries, back to back, two hours each, from 7am til 11am in the morning. Then I spent the rest of the day leisurely bookmarking and promoting the posts in a ritual that has evolved over the years to include Digg, Delicious, StumbleUpon, and Reddit and I tweet the links on @roberrific and have recently begun to use Zoomit. Toronto Dentist on the Lenzr Blog I started writing this piece by hammering out my recollections of the exact moment when Toronto dentist Dr Natalie Archer DDS of the Rosedale Family Dental Care office at 600 Sherbourne St unit #808 met a 22yr old female York University student named Seattle Dredge, the winner of the Lenzr Kids in Action photo contest, who already has lovely teeth btw; her smile is today far whiter whiter than my own teeth will ever be. While writing the blog I remembered… Read more »
